Serge Geyzel and Karsten Pflum are old friends, with a common musical ground and passion. Since 2020 they have been collaborating prolifically - focusing their energy and effort on dance-oriented electro, with strong acid, breakbeat, and IDM vibes.

“EP 2” is a five tracker, displaying a palette of funky, tight, deep, and quirky excursions into their acid galaxy.

KARSTEN PFLUM

Karsten Pflum is a restlessly creative Danish producer and DJ, living and working in Berlin. For over more than a decade he has built a wide-ranging discography, and his mixes are widely known in the left-field fernandum. He is precisely technical and peculiar with rhythmic mastery embedded in distant emotional beauty.

Since his debut in 2003, karsten pflum has been a prolific producer and live performer. With his well crafted work that’s full of soul, his tunes are a fresh and curious take on the electronic dance music genre. The sound of heavy bass-driven electro, frantic jungle, and crystal clear ambient, always with the haunting and charming pflum sound - poignant and sophisticated. The output is often full of references to genres, gear or techniques - and the underlying storyline displays a love for classic elements from 80's sci-fi, Motown funk music, and BBC wildlife documentaries. As a live performer karsten pflum offers an engaging insight into his playful and musical approach, with his highly dopamine filled and riveting tunes - aimed for the feet and chest.

Karsten Pflum's musical output over the years stretches over a rather broad palette of genres and styles. From classic IDM, a la early Rephlex and Warp, over tight and funky electro, breakbeat and acid, too fast and complex jungle and drill n' bass, braindance or even breakcore. Sometimes the music  is pure ambient, displaying Pflum's love for simplistic expressionist music.

He's released 9 albums and a good number of EPs, on labels like Ad Noiseam, Hymen Records, Touched Music, Furthur Electronix, Science Cult and Diffuse Reality. Plus some releases under various monikers, such as Karen Lust and Max Maxell. His music has been played by DJs and on radio stations around the world, most notably, perhaps, by people like DJ Krush, Rob Brown of Sonic Explorations, and BBC legends Mary Ann Hobbs and John Peel (r.i.p).

In the studio Pflum works with a broad spectrum of gear and techniques. Old synths and drum machines, effects and sequencers, as well as digital programming and sound treatment. The approach is often intuitive, experimental and playful, constantly pushing the sound in new directions.

Karsten continues to produce forward thinking music, at the moment focusing on his solo work, which is a charming mix IDM, electro, breakbeat and ambient, and his collaboration with Serge Geyzel, where the output is aimed more for the clubs and DJs.

SERGE GEYZEL

By erasing borders between different music worlds, Berlin musician Serge Geyzel starts from classical and jazz music. A musician born in Saratov, Russia dedicated 12 years of his life to studying classical music, paying special attention to playing piano. New destinations in life and music appeared with a move to Israel in 1999, where he fell in love with the jazz scene. This is where he embarked on a new journey exploring jazz piano at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, performing his trio and other various ensembles.

His fascinating experience moved him from the field of traditional music to the boundless world of electronic music production when he began experimenting with software to create new sounds. The end result was an exceptional standard of music production. Since moving to Berlin in 2014, exploring the trends of electronic music in the city, influencing its own sound, Serge Geyzel has been combining its proximity to electronics in the early 2000’s with the aesthetics of the electrical and ambient in its current music products. Preferably using analog synthesisers and drum machines and field recordings and self-written samples, the music result is a combination of poetic layers and heavy electrical rhythms.

Recent releases of Serge Geyzel are released on Labels: Science Cult, Zodiak Commune Records, Mindcolormusic,, ZwaarteKracht, Specimen Records and more….

Serge continues to compose and perform live music in the city of Berlin.
